ELMAR project study visit to Austria – South Germany – Switzerland „Electric boats on inland waterways”. 10 -12 September 2019 - Updated
During 9 - 13 September 2019, Partners of the ELMAR project consortium and guests from e-mobility interest groups had the opportunity to participate in in a three day study trip in the D-A-CH region, exploring companies involved in production of waterborne e-mobility technologies.
First day of the ELMAR project's study trip to Austria, Germany and Switzerland started with a visit to the electric boat factory Frauscher Bootswerft GmbH & Co KG. Our second stop was at stop at Boote Marian GmbH in Sankt Wolfgang am Wolfgangsee. And Our third visit was at the boat building company with a long tradition - Pehn Bootsbau in St. Georgen at Attergau (Austria). Pehn Bootsbau CEO/Master Shipbuilder - Mr. Jörg Keplinger presented the company products - electric recreational boats. Some models are being equipped with photovoltaic panels, which support charing the boat's batteries while cruising. Part of the presentation took part at the marina by the beautiful lake Attersee.
Second day of the ELMAR project study tour to companies specialized in electric boatbuilding and electricpropeller system. The visit at the HQ of Torqeedo GmbH was guided by the company CEO Mr. Christoph Ballin. who also gave a very interesting presentation on the market of electric propulsion systems. The visit to the Torqeedo facilities was followed by testing of the boats equipped with the company's electric drives at Starnberg lake.
During day 3 we had the opportunity to visit another company specialized in production electric drive units for boats Kräutler Elektromotoren. Followed by a trip to Designboats a company focusing on production of boats with electric engines. Our final destination was the University of Applied Sciences at Constance, where we had the occasion to participate in a series of presentations in the area of e-mobility.
